How to setup Concurrent Offline Licensing

A couple of important items to be aware of:

1.    If the Nodelock file is lost on the client machine, that license which was issued will remain issued until the date of expiration

2.    You can only run V5R13 or  later

 

First, follow these steps on the Server

1.    Install Lum 4.6.8 patch 8 

2.    Download the 468 migration utility:  LUM4682-offline_mig.ZIP

3.    Enroll your Licenses if they were not already enrolled

4.    Extract the i4_offline_mig.exe.win file from the LUM4682-offline_mig.zip into the C:\ifor\win\bin directory

5.    Rename the i4_offline_mig.exe.win file and remove the .win extension

6.    Stop the License Service by using the Service Manager Tool

          a.    Start Programs License Use Manager Service Manager Tool

7.    At a Command Prompt go to the C:\ifor\win\bin directory and execute i4_offline_mig.exe

8.    Restart the License Service

9.    Start the Basic License Tool

          a.    You should see a yellow lock attached to the Green certificates located in the Product Description

10.    Open up the Details of the License that you wish to administer

11.    Select the Concurrent-Offline Tab

12.    Select Selected Authorizations

          a.    If you want to allow all users to 'Extract' a Concurrent-Offline Key
                    i.    Select All Allowed

          b.    If you want to allow any user to 'Extract' a Concurrent-Offline Key, but want to control it with a password
                    i.    Select All Allowed  
                    ii.    Select Change Password
                    iii.    Set the password

          c.    If you want to allow only certain users to Extract a Concurrent-Offline Key
                    i.    Select Not All Allowed  
                    ii.    Add either a User, Group, or Target ID with or without a password

          d.    If you want LUM to act normally without the Concurrent-Offline Key
                    i.    Select All Concurrent Allowed and LUM will behave normally

13.    At this point you may also set the Maximum Time that a user can have that license checked out

          a.    To do this you must be in the Details window in the Concurrent-Offline Tab

          b.    Select Licenses Set Maximum offline period

                    i.    The Default is 120 Days or when the license expires, whichever is shorter

          c.    Key in the Date that you wish it to expire and select OK

14.    Close LUM and Save your changes

 

Second, follow these steps on the Client's:

1.    Make sure you are connected to the Network

2.    Install the Dassault Systemes product  

          a.    Must be V5R13 or a later level

3.    Copy the i4ls.ini file from the server and put it into the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\IBM\LUM directory

          a.    If this directory doesn't exist then create it, before creating it be sure the folder isn’t hidden

4.    Select Start Programs Dassault Product Name Goes Here Tools Nodelock Key Manager V5RXX

          a.    This will give you an error if there isn't a license available in the Nodelock file

5.    Select File Extract

6.    Select the license that you wish to extract and select Extract

7.    At this point if you decided to set a password then enter the password for either the User, Group, or Target ID

8.    Repeat step 6-7 for any other licenses that you wish to Extract

9.    Close the Nodelock License Manager and start the appropriate Dassault Product

 

Follow these steps in order to release the License:

1.    Make sure you are attached to the network and can see the license server

2.    Select Start Programs Dassault Product Name Goes Here Tools Nodelock Key Manager V5RXX

3.    Select File Restitute

4.    Select the license that you wish to restitute and select Restitute

5.    Repeat step 4 for any other licenses that you wish to Restitute

6.    Close the Nodelock License Manager
