CAD Designer Job Posting

POSITION TITLE: CAD Designer
REPORTS TO: Engineering Services Team Lead
LOCATION(S): Wooster, OH & Alpharetta, GA

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: Design 3D models and assemblies (in various CAD packages including CATIA V5, UG‐NX, SolidWorks, Pro/E and Inventor) from conceptual designs, reverse engineering layouts, or legacy data.

ACTIVITIES and DUTIES:
The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all-inclusive.

  • Create manufacturing drawings of assemblies and models including GD&T and B.O.M. information
  • Interpreting 2D drawings for conversion to 3D models and assemblies
  • Successfully convert 3D models from one CAD format to another
  • Create or re‐master new 3D models from conceptual designs
  • Use specialized modules in CAD packages such as FTA, SMD, Piping/Tubing as required
  • Track own progress against bid hours using sources available to ensure project deadlines are met
  • Make decisions concerning personal time management and task prioritization to deliver quality service, on time and under budget

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

  • Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technologies, Computer Science or equivalent preferred
  • CAD software certification a plus

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 years experience in one or more 3D CAD packages is required
  • Mechanical Design/Drafting experience is required
  • Experience with CATIA V4 or V5 , UG‐NX, SolidWorks or ProE is a plus
  • Manufacturing or machining experience is a plus
  • Experience in aerospace structures and component design is a plus

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITY:

  • Ability to check manufacturing drawings to determine proper fit and function, correctness and completeness of information
  • Must have strong mechanical aptitude, good reasoning and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of Data Management and Configuration Management principles
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to function with minimum supervision

WORK ENVIRONMENT and PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to travel for multi week assignments
  • Work is performed in a standard office environment and involves the ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate on telephone and handle all calls in a professional and personable manner
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time, to work on desktop computer with keyboard and mouse (repetitive keyboard and mouse motion is necessary)
  • Vision must be good enough to read keyboards, computer screens, reference books, reports and other written documents
  • Ability to drive own vehicle or rental vehicle
  • Non‐smoking environment
